The wood used is Baltic Birch, a Russian import.  While it is technically still available, it is very expensive, and supports an unjust war.

The Story

 

A friend once looked through my record collection, which I stored on a bookshelf.  She pulled each record out far enough to see the cover, and pushed it back in.  This record shuffle grew tiresome and she started skipping chunks of records, eventually giving up altogether.  I decided there had to be a better way to enjoy my collection...

 

After many nights with paper, pencil, and eraser, the final design of my record storage emerged.  I made a prototype, learned a few things, and then made three of the units I would come to call the GrooveKeeper.

 

I have enjoyed my GrooveKeepers so much, I decided I had to share them!

GrooveKeeper Details

  • The GrooveKeeper can hold 150-225 12" records.
  • The GrooveKeeper is handmade, starting from a 5' X 5' X 5/8" sheet of Baltic Birch.
  • The GrooveKeeper is 42" tall X 15" wide X 20" deep.  It weighs 50lbs. empty.
  • The GrooveKeeper has three sliding drawers, 12", 14", and 16" deep.
  • The GrooveKeeper drawers feature the option of the Choose-a-Size drawer back design.
  • The GrooveKeeper works best on a hard, level surface.
  • The GrooveKeeper is art, storage, and collection display.
